Appropriate blood, urine, stool, hair or sputum specimens are used to check the status of various organ systems, hormones, nutrients, toxicities, allergies, etc. Sometimes bio-electric methods (EAV devices, for example) are used for assessment.
We generally use and prefer certain laboratories for certain tests. These labs are chosen because of their accuracy and expertise in specific areas of testing.
Many of these tab tests (but not necessarily all) may be covered by medical insurance companies. If necessary a "super bill" can be generated which lists the diagnostic and procedure codes required for insurance reimbursement.
Many labs supply "kits" which contain instructions, requisition forms, collecting tubes if appropriate, etc. Generally there is no cost for these "kits." Money is paid to the lab (usually by check or credit/debit card) when the kit is "mailed" to the lab. All kits include pre-paid mailers (Fed Ex, DHL, Post Office, etc.).
We make no money on lab tests ordered. All monies charged for labwork go to the laboratory which performed the test(s). The costs involved depend on which tests are ordered.
